Buying the showcased property at an open house should not be the goal of any buyer. The reason being that there are many properties that a buyer agent can help one choose from, beyond just that open house.

For sellers, open houses serve as an opportunity to interview local Realtors and get educated about real estate markets etc.

If you are working with an agent, and you happen to come across an open house, it is always advisable to let the Realtor at open house know that someone is looking after your interests. That way, an open house Realtor can contact your agent if he lists something else that might meet your needs.

Most buyers think that they save when buying directly from a listing agent. This a myth because the very goal of the listing agent is to sell his seller’s property for maximum dollars.
