Light Rapid Transit (LRT) in Mississauga

March 30th, 2012

City of Mississauga's Hurontario-Main LRT Project on the Move

LRT on Hurontario and Burnhamthorpe RdThe City of Mississauga's Hurontario-Main LRT (Light Rail Transit) Project team will update the public on progress, timelines, next steps and provide information on LRT systems in cities around the world at a project launch event planned for April 25, 2012.

"In 2010, the City of Mississauga completed the Master Plan for the Hurontario-Main Street Study that involved technical analysis and public consultation that identified LRT as the best option for the corridor," said project manager, Matthew Williams. "With the City of Brampton, we are now undertaking the Preliminary Design and Transit Project Assessment Process to look at requirements for the LRT system and need to consult the public."

In December 2011, the LRT project entered into the Preliminary Design and Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP) Phase. Williams explained, "this phase of the project ensures the system can be built the right way, at the right price and refines plans based on design, integration, public input and affordability."

"We are now underway with the design concepts stage, and will soon be engaging stakeholders and the public to help us achieve a sustainable system, thoughtfully integrated in communities and fostering vibrancy, accessibility and connectivity," said Williams.

In 2010, the cities of Mississauga and Brampton completed the 'Hurontario-Main Street Study' from the lakeshore in Port Credit to downtown Brampton. This city building project was identified as one of the priority projects for Metrolinx in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. The study combined land use and transportation and followed the Municipal Class Environmental Process. An essential part of the process was going out into the communities along the corridor to understand what people needed and wanted for the corridor.

"At the conclusion of the study we listened to the public and technical experts and LRT was selected as the best transit option for the corridor," said Williams.

The Hurontario-Main LRT Project open house is on April 25, 2012 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Mississauga Civic Centre in the Great Hall.

Amit Kalia- Mississauga Real Estate Website

February 16th, 2012

Amit Kalia's Mississauga Real Estate Website

My New Website

I have launched my new web site today. My previous website was built in 2003 and time had come to adapt to a newer design and technology for smart, web savvy real estate consumers, like you.

My new site has a lot of RE/MAX educational videos for home buyers and sellers that will empower you with real estate knowledge. Knowledge is Prime! And if you can spend some time going over things that matter to you, I can promise, you will not only save time, but also money.

Just to give you a couple of examples, there are videos for first time buyers, pricing your home, some mistakes that sellers should not make when hiring an agent. There are also many home staging videos that can benefit sellers. Pre-listing inspection video is also a must watch.

On my new Mississauga Real Estate website, you can search MLS listings and my exclusive listings (for both sale and lease) using interactive maps, find walk a score and Google street views. You can also book appointments, calculate mortgage payments, see neighbourhood amenities, in addition to many other features.

The site also has some interesting calculators, like, affordability, mortgage, rent vs. own, mortgage insurance and land transfer tax.

The Mississauga Real Estate website has some great information for investors, new builder's condo buying secrets, that can save you thousands of dollars. You can also find information on some Mississauga neighbourhoods.

I have said enough, and now let you browse my new Mississauga Real Estate Website.

Also coming soon, new looks for my condopundit blog. Stay tuned!

Best Wishes,

Amit
