Carassauga Festival of Cultures
What I love most about my City is the diversity of cultures. Mississauga is even more diverse when compared to the other parts of Canada including Greater Toronto Area.
Almost 50 percent of Mississaugans speak non-official languages (English and French) that includes Chinese languages, Hindi, Urdu, Polish, Punjabi, Portuguese, Tagalog, Arabic, Italian, Spanish and Vietnamese. As per the City's recent demographic report, persons whose mother tongue is other than English or French make up 19.7% of Canada's total population, in comparison to 26.1% of Ontario's population, 42.6% of the Toronto CMA's population and 47.7% of Mississauga's population.
Mississauga's Carassauga is held every year to celebrate our cultural diversity and harmony. Carassauga is one of Ontario's biggest multi-cultural festivals and is definitely a memorable and fun-filled event that should not be missed! Carassauga has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Festivals in Ontario by FEO (Festival and Events in Ontario).
Each pavilion showcases their culture through food, music, art, dance, fashion, historical displays and games.
